Bug House is a bright pink color morph of its sibling and neighbor Glitch House, immersed in tropical vegetation. Program includes multimodal fitness facilities, a yoga space, sauna, steam room, hammam, and bathing areas. Each component of the spa program is contained within individual material-rich pockets.
Much like Glitch House, Bug House’s exterior is clad in locally-produced encaustic cement tiles. The graphic patterning of the tile interferes with the legibility of the pixelated concrete block structure of the house relative to the lighting conditions and color of the surrounding environment. With its close proximity to Glitch House, the effects produced by their surface geometries double as one building frames together, yes separates as distinct patches of color and geometry, flickering and oscillating through the dense jungle foliage.
